An earthquake of 7.4 degree in Richter’s scale hit Turkey again on 13 November 1999. Epicentre of the earthquake was situated near to the town of Düzce, Bolu region, between Istanbul a Ankara.
Based on decision of the Fire Chief Officer of the Czech Republic, total of 13 members were sent as the USAR team (5 dog handlers of the Canine Rescue Brigades Association, one doctor of Czech MI, 5 firefighters from Prague Fire Service, and one team commander).
Rescuing of people from collapsed buildings and further assistance to afflicted people (continuous survey in collapsed buildings, different assistance based on requests etc.) were the main intervention activities in disaster area.
Total of 714 dead people were found in the affected area.
