Romania 2008
The Czech Republic provided material humanitarian assistance to Romania, which was affected by large floods. At the request of the Romania, Ministry of Interior – General Directorate of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic ensured in cooperation with Ministry of Foreign Affaires the preparatory of this event. The Czech Republic delivered 12 power generators (with power 10 kVA, 12 kVA, 15 kVA, 20 kVA) to affected country. The total amout of this humanitarian assistance was about 1 million CZK.
Transport and delivery was carried out by unit of the Ministry of Interior – General Directorate of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic. Humanitarian unit left the Czech Republic on 31 July and the task of this mission was to deliver the humanitarian material to the centre of the affected area, the city of Suceava, northeast Romania. After about 24 hours driving from the border of the Czech Republic humanitarian material was handed over to local government officials in Suceava during the ceremony, which was also attended by the ambassador of the Czech Republic. Humanitarian unit returned to the Czech Republic on 3 August 2008 after passing a distance of 2480 km.
